Researchers detail new studies and findings in the area of breast cancer

Breast cancer data are the focus of recent research from Poland, loic@crch and the South Korea.

Study 1: Polymorphisms of the BRCA2 gene were associated with breast cancer.

"We performed a case-control study (150 cases and 150 controls) to test the association between three polymorphisms in BRCA2 and RAD51 genes and breast cancer risk. Genotypes were determined in DNA from blood cells by PCR-RFLP," scientists in Poland reported.

"Cancer occurrence was strongly associated with the BRCA2 Met/1915Thr homozygous polymorphic variants, whereas heterozygous variant was associated with significant reduction in breast cancer risk....
