Abdominal position shifts detected with radiation-planning CT scans

Superior and posterior shifts in abdominal position were detected with radiation-planning computed tomography scans (CTs). Researchers in the United States conducted a study "to evaluate whether organ location, determined from preoperative diagnostic CTs, accurately reflects organ location when patients are positioned for radiation therapy. We identified patients with upper abdominal malignancies treated with surgery and/or radiation therapy.
