Study 1: According to a study from Taiwan, cytokine and DNA repair gene variations contribute to to hepatitis B virus (HBV)-related hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC).
"HBV induces HCC mainly by causing chronic necroinflammatory hepatic disease. We investigated the mechanisms underlying the inflammatory hepatocarcinogenesis by examining whether genetic variations in cytokines, antioxidant enzymes, and DNA repair genes affect the HCC risk," wrote C.C.
