Laser Doppler perfusion images cannot distinguish tumor angiogenesis from reactive hyperemia.

According to a study from Germany, "Tumor angiogenesis plays a key role in tumor growth and formation of metastasis. Quantitative analysis of tumor blood flow is a prerequisite for developing novel treatment strategies such as antiangiogenic and antivascular treatment options."
