The fiber-folate debate in colorectal cancer was reviewed.

"Intervention and prospective studies showing no effect of fiber in protection against colorectal cancer have challenged consensus recommendations that population intakes of fiber should be increased to reduce the risk of colorectal cancer. The European Prospective Investigation of Cancer and Nutrition (EPIC) of 519hairsp978 individuals aged 25-70 years is the largest prospective study of diet and cancer to date worldwide," scientists writing in the journal Proceedings of the Nutrition Society reported.
