Peripheral Nerve Sheath Tumors

Malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors are vulnerable to oncolytic Herpes simplex virus mutants

The use of oncolytic Herpes simplex virus (oHSV) mutants might represent a novel approach for treating malignant peripheral nerve sheath tumors (MPNSTs).

According to recent research from the United States, "MPNSTs occur most frequently in patients with neurofibromatosis type 1 and are often fatal. Current therapy relies upon radical surgical resection, which often fails to completely remove the tumor."
