Data from Australia, Netherlands and the United Kingdom advance knowledge in cancer treatment research

Cancer treatment data are the focus of recent research from Australia, Netherlands and the United Kingdom.

Study 1: Scientists have developed a mesothelioma vaccine using recombinant GM-CSF plus autologous tumor cells.

According to a report from Australia, "Treatments evaluated for malignant mesothelioma (MM), including chemotherapy, radiotherapy, and surgery are of limited efficacy. Immunotherapy has shown some promise in MM but optimal vaccination conditions are yet to be defined. Autologous tumor vaccines have the advantage of containing both 'self'- and 'neo'-tumor antigens but they are not commonly used in any cancer, and never in MM."
