Prostate cancer susceptibility linked to genetic polymorphisms in cytochrome P450 1A1 and 2E1 genes

Prostate cancer (PCa) susceptibility in a Han population in Southern China could be linked to individuals with a smoking or drinking habit and who carry genetic polymorphisms in the cytochrome P450 1A1 (CYP1A1) and 2E1 (CYP2E1) genes.

Researchers in the People's Republic of China conducted a study "to investigate the association among the polymorphisms of the cytochrome P450 1A1 and 2E1 genes, smoking, drinking and the risk of PCa in a Han nationality population in Southern China. A case-control study including 225 PCa patients and 250 age-matched controls was conducted. The 6 polymorphic sites of the CYP 1A1 and CYP2E1 genes were analysed by polymerase chain reaction...
