Anal carcinoma evaluated by FDG-PET/CT

More abnormal inguinal lymph nodes in anal carcinoma were detected by [F-18]-fluoro-2-deoxy-D-glucose-positron emission tomography/computed tomography (FDG-PET/CT) than CT alone.

"Surgical staging and treatment of anal carcinoma has been replaced by noninvasive staging studies and combined modality therapy. In this study, we compare CT and physical examination to FDG-PET/CT in the staging of carcinoma of the anal canal, with special emphasis on determination of spread to inguinal lymph nodes.
