Head and neck cancer patient counseling improved when feeding tube likelihood identified

The identification of variables associated with the likelihood of feeding tube placement would allow physicians to better counsel head and neck cancer patients.

According to a recent article published in the journal Archives of Otolaryngology - Head & Neck Surgery, scientists in the United States conducted research "to identify clinical factors associated with enteral feeding tube placement in a head and neck cancer population. A self-administered survey was given to patients being treated for head and neck cancer while they were waiting to be seen in 1 of 4 otolaryngology clinics."
