Studies from the United States, Japan and United Kingdom advance knowledge in leukemia research

Leukemia research advances have been reported from the United States, Japan and United Kingdom.

Study 1: New therapies are being developed that bring the promise of a cure for leukemia.

"[The study's aim was] to review the current status of resistance to imatinib mesylate (IM) in patients with chronic myelogenous leukemia, and the obstacles and opportunities presented by the development of this resistance. Review of selected studies obtained from a MEDLINE search encompassing the years 1950 to 2004 [was conducted]. Relevant information from the selected studies was abstracted and summarized," researchers in the United States reported.
