Prostate cancer sensitivity to doxorubicin-induced apoptosis mediated by Phellinus linteus

Prostate cancer sensitivity to doxorubicin (Dox)-induced apoptosis could be mediated by the Phellinus linteus (PL) mushroom.

"It has been demonstrated that the PL mushroom, which mainly consists of polysaccharides, possesses antitumour activity. The mechanisms of PL against malignant growth remain unknown," scientists in the United States reported.

"The anticancer drug Dox has been shown to induce apoptosis via initiating a caspase cascade," explained L. Collins and colleagues, Boston University.
