XCounter study shows mammography X-ray technology reduced patient recalls for follow-up exam

XCounter AB (XCT), a developer of 3D technologies for X-ray companies, announced that it has completed the first patient study on its mammography product XC Mammo-3T, which uses the company's XCT-3T three dimensional X-ray technology.

Six trained radiologists from Sweden and U.S. have evaluated the screen-film mammograms and the 3D images from 20 patients produced by the XC Mammo-3T.

Micro calcifications, which are important indicators of malignant tumors, were better visualized in the 3D images. All cancers were well displayed in the 3D images and easy to detect. In one case, the radiologists found one cancer, which was obvious in the 3D image and...
