Northwestern University, Department of Surgery describes research in pancreatic cancer epidemiology

New investigation results, "Guidelines for the surgical management of pancreatic adenocarcinoma," are detailed in a study published in Seminars In Oncology. According to recent research from the United States, "Pancreaticoduodenectomy remains the most formidable operative procedure for the surgical treatment of gastrointestinal malignancy. Improved outcomes after the Whipple procedure have been attributed to better preoperative patient selection, advances in three-dimensional radiographic imaging, and regionalization of referrals to high-volume, tertiary care centers."
