Research from Shiga University, Department of Neurosurgery has provided new information about astrocytoma prognosis

Fresh data on astrocytoma are presented in the report 'Prognostic significance of loss of O6-methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase expression in supratentorial diffuse low-grade astrocytoma.' "O(6)-Methylguanine-DNA methyltransferase is a DNA repair protein. Epigenetic silencing of MGMT function by its promoter hypermethylation is considered to contribute to carcinogenesis," scientists in Japan report.
