"The peroxisome proliferator-activated receptor-gamma (PPARgamma) is a member of the nuclear hormone receptor superfamily. Ligand activation of PPARgamma is associated with differentiation and inhibition of proliferation in the normal and malignant cells," scientists in Italy report.
