"Angiogenesis has been reported to be an essential step in the progression and development of carcinomas. Numerous growth factors regulate angiogenesis, however, vascular endothelial growth factor (VEGF) has been reported to be most relevant within this context.(1) The endothelium starts to proliferate, vessels migrate into the tumor, and permeability is increased after the VEGF pathway has been started," investigators in Munich, Germany report.
