According to recent research published in the journal Oncogene, "Photodynamic therapy (PDT) is an anticancer approach utilizing a light-absorbing molecule and visible light irradiation to generate, in the presence of O-2, cytotoxic reactive oxygen species, which cause tumor ablation.
