Head and Neck Cancer

New findings from Vanderbilt University, Department of Medicine in the area of head and neck cancer published

Current study results from the report, 'Update on molecular diagnostic tests in head and neck cancer,' have been published. "Head and neck cancers (HNCs) include several cancers originating in the upper airways that represent a variety of histologies. The most common type of HNC is squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), which is linked to tobacco and alcohol use and to human papilloma virus (HPV)," scientists writing in the journal Seminars In Oncology report.

"At present, there are no standard molecular tests that are routinely used in clinics. This overview will discuss the current knowledge on molecular markers with the potential to be developed as diagnostic tests...
