Each year more than 52,000 Americans die from colorectal cancer. Many of these deaths could be prevented by regular screening. Yet, the vast majority of those 50 and older who should be screened for the disease are not being tested ' possibly due to the cost, inconvenience, and safety concerns associated with current screening exams. However, results of an American College of Radiology Imaging Network study published in the September 18 issue of the New England Journal of Medicine confirm that CT Colonography, often referred to as virtual colonoscopy, is an effective screening option that could be more attractive to patients and, as a result, save lives. ...
