Study data from Catholic University update understanding of liposarcoma

According to a study from Rome, Italy, "We describe an unusual case of I-123 metaiodobenzylguanidine (I-123 MIBG) uptake in a patient with myxoid liposarcoma of the thigh. A 66-year-old male underwent CT and I-123 MIBG scan to exclude a pheochromocytoma."

"A PET-CT was also performed because the patient had a medical history of melanoma. I-123 MIBG scan and PET-CT showed an area of increased uptake of the radiopharmaceutical in the left thigh. MRI of the thigh showed the presence of a lesion in the left vastus medialis muscle," wrote G. Treglia and colleagues, Catholic University.
