According to a study from the United States, "The pineal gland is one of the rarest sites in the brain to find metastatic neoplasms accounting for less than 1% of intracranial metastases. Furthermore, prostate adenocarcinomas rarely metastasize to the central nervous system." "We report a case of a 70-year-old man with an 8-year-history of high-grade, widely metastatic prostatic adenocarcinoma. Autopsy findings included changes of hydrocephalus and an expansile pineal region mass that was compressing the tectal plate and underlying aqueduct.
