Cardium's InnerCool Announces First Patient Treated With New Tissue-Specific UroCool(TM) System in Robotic-Assisted Prostate Surgery Study

Cardium Therapeutics (NYSE Alternext US: CXM) and its operating unit InnerCool Therapies, Inc., announced enrollment of the first patient in a study of Hypothermic Radical Prostatectomy being conducted by researchers at the University of California, Irvine. The patient was cooled with InnerCool's new UroCool(TM), a pelvic catheter system designed to induce localized cooling during robotic-assisted prostatectomy surgery.
The study is designed to evaluate the potential safety and confirm the benefits of localized cooling during robotic-assisted prostatectomy, which is now the most common surgical technique for prostate cancer. The study is being conducted by Thomas E....
