Researchers at Katholieke University Leuven, Department of Gastroenterology release new data on acid reflux disease genetics

Research findings, 'The spectrum of motor function abnormalities in gastroesophageal reflux disease and Barrett's esophagus,' are discussed in a new report. "Barrett's esophagus has traditionally been regarded as the most severe end of the spectrum of gastroesophageal reflux disease and is of great clinical importance in view of the association with esophageal adenocarcinoma. Studies have documented high levels of esophageal acid exposure in Barrett's esophagus," scientists writing in the journal Digestion report.
