Data on thyroid cancer detailed by researchers at University Hospital

According to a study from Tianjin, People's Republic of China, "A 68-year-old man diagnosed with primary hyperparathyroidism underwent Tc-99m pertechnetate/sestamibi parathyroid imaging. A right-inferior parathyroid hyperfunctioning lesion was revealed."

"After parathyroidectomy, serum parathormone and calcium dropped to normal levels and parathyroid carcinoma was diagnosed histopathology. The patient did not appear for a regular checkup until 17 months later, when levels of parathormone and calcium rose again.
