Studies from University of Texas, M. D. Anderson Cancer Center further understanding of diabetic neuropathy

Researchers detail in 'Regulation of increased glutamatergic input to spinal dorsal horn neurons by mGluR5 in diabetic neuropathic pain,' new data in diabetic neuropathy. "Diabetic neuropathic pain is associated with increased glutamatergic input in the spinal dorsal horn. Group I metabotropic glutamate receptors (mGluRs) are involved in the control of neuronal excitability, but their role in the regulation of synaptic transmission in diabetic neuropathy remains poorly understood," scientists in the United States report.
