Study findings from Seoul National University, Medical Department provide new insights into thyroid cancer

According to recent research published in the journal Current Medical Imaging Reviews, "Radioactive iodine therapy has played an important role in the management of differentiated thyroid cancer (DTC) since specific accumulation of iodide in the thyroid gland was initially reported. The incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing in many countries including Korea."

"Conventional RIT has an effect on the treatment of metastatic thyroid cancer. To obtain the effects of I-131 therapy, tumors must accumulate iodide.
