Reports from Taipei Veterans General Hospital, Department of Medicine add new data to research in diabetes

Current study results from the report, 'Diabetes mellitus as an independent prognostic predictor and its association with renal dysfunction in patients with hepatocellular carcinoma,' have been published. According to recent research published in the journal Liver International, "Patients with hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC) often have coexisting cirrhosis, which may predispose to the development of diabetes mellitus (DM). Diabetic HCC patients may have renal insufficiency and a subsequent worse outcome."
