American Cancer Society Targeting Youth for This Year's Great American Smokeout

2010 NOV 30 -- For this year's Great American Smokeout® on Nov. 18, the American Cancer Society is making a concerted push across Illinois to target a high-risk audience who it would like to kick the habit: Illinois youth.

About 28 percent of Illinois high school students and 11 percent of middle school students report use of some form of tobacco. Although the percent of high school students who smoke cigarettes is declining in Illinois at similar rates to adults, the percent of youth who use tobacco products remains largely unchanged.
