Reports outline lung cancer study findings from Massachusetts Institute of Technology, Howard Hughes Medical Institute

2011 JAN 4 -- A report, 'Stage-specific sensitivity to p53 restoration during lung cancer progression,' is newly published data in Nature. "Tumorigenesis is a multistep process that results from the sequential accumulation of mutations in key oncogene and tumor suppressor pathways. Personalized cancer therapy that is based on targeting these underlying genetic abnormalities presupposes that sustained inactivation of tumor suppressors and activation of oncogenes is essential in advanced cancers," scientists writing in the journal Nature report.
