Findings from University of Southern California Provide New Insights into Breast Cancer

2011 JUL 26 -- Researchers detail in "Risk of contralateral breast cancer associated with common variants in BRCA1 and BRCA2: potential modifying effect of BRCA1/BRCA2 mutation carrier status," new data in Breast Cancer. According to the authors of recent research from Los Angeles, California, "Rare deleterious mutations in BRCA1 and BRCA2 are associated with an elevated risk of breast and ovarian cancer. Whether or not common variants in these genes are independently associated with risk of breast cancer remains unclear."
