Study Findings from Vesalius Research Center Broaden Understanding of Angiogenesis

2011 AUG 23 -- A report, "Principles and mechanisms of vessel normalization for cancer and other angiogenic diseases," is newly published data in Nature Reviews Drug Discovery. "Despite having an abundant number of vessels, tumours are usually hypoxic and nutrient-deprived because their vessels malfunction. Such abnormal milieu can fuel disease progression and resistance to treatment," researchers in Leuven, Belgium report.
