Research from University of New South Wales Yields New Data on Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer

2012 MAR 6 -- Researchers detail in "Alu in Lynch syndrome: a danger SINE," new data in Hereditary Nonpolyposis Colorectal Cancer. According to the authors of a study from Sydney, Australia, "Lynch syndrome is a hereditary cancer predisposition syndrome caused by germline loss of a DNA mismatch repair gene. In a significant proportion of cases, loss of function of the MSH2 mismatch repair gene is caused by large heterogeneous deletions involving MSH2 and/or the adjacent EPCAM gene."
