FDA clears heparin-coated cardiopulmonary bypass blood reservoir

CardioTech International, Inc., (CTE) announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Gish Biomedical, Inc., (Gish) has received U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) clearance to sell a disposable soft-shell venous reservoir that facilitates air removal during surgical procedures requiring extracorporeal support for up to 6 hours. The worldwide cardiopulmonary bypass market is estimated to be about $500 million annually. Gish received FDA clearance to market the Circulatory Technology, Inc., V-BAG vacuum-assisted soft-shell venous reservoir with Gish's proprietary GBS heparin coating on March 17, 2005.
