Cardiac bedside monitor-defibrillator versus code blue protocol to be studied

Cardiac Science Inc. (DFIB) announced that physicians at the University of Michigan Cardiovascular Center have launched a prospective study to assess the effectiveness of the bedside monitor-defibrillator, the Powerheart Cardiac Rhythm Module (CRM), against the traditional hospital "code blue" emergency response protocol. The CRM device is designed to continuously monitor at-risk cardiac patients and, when clinically appropriate, to deliver a defibrillation shock without intervention by a nurse or physician.
