Ischemia Therapy
Researchers at University of Alberta, Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry target ischemia therapy

New research, "Effects of adenosine on myocardial glucose and palmitate metabolism after transient ischemia: role of 5'-AMP-activated protein kinase," is the subject of a report. According to recent research from Edmonton, Canada, "Loss of cardioprotection by adenosine in hearts stressed by transient ischemia may be due to its effects on glucose metabolism. In the absence of transient ischemia, adenosine inhibits glycolysis, whereas it accelerates glycolysis after transient ischemia."
