Lawsuits filed against five Internet sites selling copy of Lipitor

Pfizer Inc has filed lawsuits against the operators of five internet sites for selling an unapproved copy of Pfizer's top selling cholesterol medicine, Lipitor, the company said.

The suits were filed in U. S. district courts in Delaware and Connecticut against Generic Lipitors (www.genericlipitors.com), Online Rx DrugStore (www.onlinerxdrugstore.com), WorldMedsRX (www.worlmedsrx.com), B. M. International (www.b-m-international.com), and Offshore Pharma (www.offshorepharma.com).

Pfizer said the sites market a product called Storvas, which is advertised as being manufactured by Ranbaxy Pharmaceuticals Inc. of India.
