Amlodipine may slow heart disease in patients with normal blood pressure

The calcium channel blocker amlodipine decreases the risk of cardiovascular events in patients with coronary artery disease and normal blood pressure, as does the ACE inhibitor enalapril, but to a lesser extent, according to a new study.

Despite more than 30 years of clinical trials, uncertainty has existed regarding the optimal use of antihypertensive drugs in patients with coronary artery disease (CAD).
