Beneficial effects are associated with prevention of myofibrillar remodeling

Researchers have reported on the modification of myosin protein and gene expression by enalapril or losartan in hearts that are failing due to myocardial infarction.

According to recent research published in the journal Biochimica Et Biophysica Acta - Molecular Basis of Disease, "The effects of enalapril, an angiotensin converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, and losartan, an angiotensin II receptor type I antagonist, were investigated on alterations in myofibrillar ATPase activity as well as myosin heavy chain (MHC) content and gene expression in failing hearts following myocardial infarction (MI)."
