Atrial fibrillation in coronary artery bypass not related to higher in-hospital mortality

Pre-existing atrial fibrillation in coronary artery bypass graft surgery patients is not related to increased in-hospital mortality and short-term major morbidity.

"The purpose of this study was to investigate the effect of pre-existing atrial fibrillation on early and midterm clinical outcome in patients undergoing coronary surgery. All elective patients undergoing coronary artery bypass grafting surgery between April 1996 and September 2002 were investigated," scientists in England report.
