Markers for Alzheimer disease are reported

A study from Germany describes the evaluation of the temporal horn index and volume of medial temporal lobe atrophy using a new semiautomated method for rapid and precise assessment.

"Quantitative markers of Alzheimer disease (AD), particularly in the early stages, are needed for clinical assessment and monitoring. We have evaluated a novel method to segment and visualize the ventricular system and obtain volumetric measures thereof," wrote F.L. Giesel and colleagues of the Deutsch Krebsforschungszentrum.
