Researchers from William Beaumont Hospital Detail New Studies and Findings in the Area of Cardiovascular Research

2011 OCT 17 -- "Coronary CT angiography (CCTA) is an excellent tool for noninvasive assessment of coronary arteries in low-to intermediate-risk individuals. However, the accuracy of CCTA heavily depends on image quality," scientists in Royal Oak, Michigan report.

"Our objective was to develop and validate a tool to predict pre-CCTA risk of obtaining an uninterpretable result in symptomatic patients. Among 8585 symptomatic patients, we identified variables independently associated with the presence of at least 1 uninterpretable major coronary segment to create the uninterpretable risk score (URS).
