Proteomics can be useful in researching hepatic diseases

Researchers say that that proteomic research techniques may be able to identify proteins as biomarkers in various liver diseases.

"Proteomics has become an important part in the leading research area and been widely used in the disease-associated study," scientists writing in the journal Science in China report.

"In hepatic research field, proteomics could be applied in study of hepatic diseases including liver cancer, cirrhosis, and hepatotoxicities, etc.," wrote W. Sun and colleagues, Beijing Institute of Radiation Medicine.

The researchers concluded: "Significant proteins could be identified as biomarkers, drug targets...
