Paget disease associated with DCIS can be diagnosed via MRI

Paget disease associated with underlying ductal carcinoma in situ can be diagnosed via magnetic resonance imaging, according to a Swiss study.

Kathrin A. Frei, MD, and colleagues, from Inselspital Bern, [described] "magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) findings in patients with Paget disease of the breast and [evaluated] mammography and MRI of the breast in the diagnosis of associated breast cancer."

They reported, "Nine patients with biopsy-proven Paget disease of the nipple underwent preoperative mammography and MRI of the breast to evaluate underlying breast cancer. All patients underwent subsequent surgery. The patients' charts and imaging studies...
