Breast cancer in younger black women is more likely to be an aggressive variety

According to new research, young African American breast cancer patients are twice as likely as older African American women or Caucasians of any age to be diagnosed with one of the most aggressive subtypes of breast cancer. They also are much less likely to get the least aggressive type of breast cancer.

Black women have fewer breast cancers than white women, but their mortality is worse. Black women under the age of 50 have a 77% higher mortality rate from breast cancer than white women of the same age.
