Desmoplastic melanoma's tendency to recur necessitates narrower excision margins

Desmoplastic melanoma (DM) has a propensity for recurrence, necessitating narrower excision margins.

According to recent research published in the journal Annals of Surgical Oncology, "DM has been associated with higher local recurrence rates than other types of cutaneous melanoma. Current controversies regarding locoregional treatment strategies warrant further investigation."
