New carcinoma epidemiology data have been reported by M. Dunn and co-authors

New investigation results, 'Perineural invasion progressing to leptomeningeal carcinomatosis: is the absence of peripheral nerves an important sign,' are detailed in a study published in Journal of the American Academy of Dermatology. According to recent research from the United States, "Leptomeningeal carcinomatosis (LMC) is a rare, frequently fatal complication of cranial nerve invasion by a primary cutaneous carcinoma. Complete absence of nerve tissue was observed in retrospect in a Mohs surgery case that had subsequently proceeded to LMC."
