According to a study from Madrid, Spain, "Experimental evidence has revealed that several thymidylate synthase (TS) DNA polymorphisms modulate gene expression, which, in turn is known to be down-regulated by oestrogen receptor subtypes. Consequently, this process might be influenced by female hormones."
