Kyowa Hakko Kirin Fiscal 2008 Sales up 17.4%, Operating Income up 15.2%

Kyowa Hakko Kirin Co., Ltd. (Kyowa Hakko Kirin) announced its consolidated financial results for the year ended March 31, 2009 (Fiscal 2008). Consolidated net sales were JPY460.1 billion, up 17.4% and consolidated operating income was JPY45.3 billion, an increase of 15.2% compared to fiscal 2007. Recurring income increased 22.2% to JPY46.4 billion. Net income decreased by 50% to JPY11.7 billion, as extraordinary losses of JPY21.5 billion were recorded due to valuation losses on investment securities, impairment losses and other factors.
