Five-year study launched to investigate cardiovascular risk reduction with Omacor

Pronova Biocare announced at the European Society of Cardiology Annual Congress 2004 their involvement in the mega-trial ORIGIN which will study whether treatment with Omacor (icosapent/doconexent) will reduce cardiovascular mortality in people who are at high risk for cardiovascular events and who have either early type 2 diabetes or pre-diabetes. The trial has entered into its active recruitment phase and has already enrolled more than 2,800 patients. Ten thousand patients will be included from 600 sites in more than 35 countries in the trial, which will run for 5 years.
